History
Battle Roulette wasn’t created in a boardroom - it was born in the barracks.
What started as a rowdy game between Marines evolved into a movement built around connection, creativity, and purpose. The game - and the world surrounding it - has gone through four major stages of growth.
Stage 1: The Barracks Days
As a young United States Marine, I ran with a group of hard chargers who loved to drink and loved to fight. I created a game that became a barracks legend – full of crude humor, chaos, and competition.
Each mini-game mirrored aspects of real combat- from artillery style pong to sniper precision quarters – wrapped in comedy and camaraderie. It has a gritty flow, wild cards, and plenty of excuses to crack a beer and talk trash. Battle Roulette was built for Marines, and it went hard.
Stage 2: The Mission Expands
After leaving the Marine Corps, the game started to gather dust – until a new mission reignited it. Around that time, I founded a nonprofit called Operation S.P.A.R.T.A. (Slavery Prevented And Reconciled Through Action), focused on rescuing and recovering victims of human trafficking. I poured thousands of dollars into the effort. Recruitment, intel, and structure were all falling into place – but running actual recovery missions was costly.
That’s when the idea hit us: Battle Roulette wasn’t just a game - it was a gold mine waiting to fund something bigger. By launching a Kickstarter and turning sales from the game into mission fuel, we could transform play into purpose and keep the fight alive.
Stage 3: Evolution & Expansion
As we started developing the public version of the game, we realized it needed to grow beyond just the military and drinking crowd. We toned down the alcohol element, made it more flexible for any group, and built out a universe behind it – complete with lore, backstories, and characters.
That’s when the creative spark hit. Battle Roulette wasn’t just a game anymore; it was a world. We began exploring ways to weave in art, music, writing and storytelling, expanding into tabletop modes, journey boards, and even digital experiences. Suddenly, there was no limit – this could evolve through collabs, apps, and entertainment crossovers, each adding its own flavor to the world.
Stage 4: The Vibe Era
Covid hit in the earlier stages and what was supposed to be a short pause became years of isolation, division, and disconnection. The world felt heavy, and people forgot how to laugh and live in the moment.
That’s when the mission changed again. Battle Roulette became more than a game – it became a lifestyle movement. We set out to bring people back together through laid-back tournaments, good drinks, beach vibes, and old-school fun.
It’s about nostalgia, unity, and the simple joy of being around real people again. We’re done staring at screens and arguing online. It’s time to reconnect – to bring back that feeling of hope, excitement, and adventure. Battle Roulette stands for that. A community of people ready to build something better – one laugh, one game, and one cold drink at a time.
